Man,
Have you ever had a discussion with someone who knows NOTHING about a subject, but they engage in conversation about that subject like they have a Master’s degree and 20 years experience on the subject? (#ShotsFired)
That is how credit cards are seen 90% of the time!
“Credit cards will ruin your credit!”, “My mom told me not to get a credit card”, etc… Well hey people – If you go over your daytime minutes to a point where you can’t pay it back, you’re going to screw yourself as well right? A credit card is the same thing.
Do you want a home? A nice car? A wedding ring? Etc… it all starts with credit, and a credit card is the foundation for building that credit (Don’t believe me? Walk into a bank with your gangsta-self and try and get an automobile loan for that Lexus that you want to set yourself back 10 years to buy – #ItAintHappeninBruh).
But it takes self-control to use a credit card properly. Don’t look at it as “money that you can borrow until you can pay it back”…but more as “spending money that you already have to build your credit”.
#WhatTheF***YouSayinBruh?
I’m saying exactly what I just wrote. View your credit card as a way to spend money that you already have to build your credit. If you do this, you won’t only be building your credit…but you’ll be earning money as well!
How do you earn money? Look at this cool VISA card that RBC just rolled out that gives you cash back for grocery and gas purchases (Click Here).
And let’s say that I drive a lot (I got a job, I work, I’m always driving #CuzIGetsItInWithTheseHoes, whatever it is)…You’re filling up at the pump like once a week.
When you use your debit card, what do you get for doing that?
Higher bank fees (You need an account that gives you more transactions)…and ummm…maybe some points if you have a points card (Which is completely unrelated to your debit card).
#FacePalm
Now what if you put that purchase through that nice-looking RBC Visa card?
What do you get from that? Cashback on your gas purchase (Or say points if you have some type of points card), building your credit, points from the gas station, and the ability to make a quick transaction (PayPass FTW!)…All for spending money that you already had!
You pay that off come the end of the month (You already have the money), you don’t pay a cent in interest, but you’ve just earned money!
Get what I’m saying?
A credit card isn’t bad at all…they’re just misunderstood.
